My "29th" Birthday

I'm just kidding! I'm not really 29 years old. I'm 33 today, but who cares? Nobody counts how old you are when you're past the age of 29. I thought I wouldn't like my 30's, but I love it!

Call me a late-bloomer, but I just gotta say that I've been so blessed to be given some major life-altering experiences. I think I went through a huge nesting phase this past year just to make some room and time for a baby.

1. Still taking my pre-natal vitamins. I found it to be good for my hair, skin and nails!
2. Reading a beloved book out loud to Maddy every day. Saying a prayer out loud with her every day too.
3. Getting pregnant.
4. Paying a mortgage.
5. Pushing out a 7.5 lb baby into the world.
6. Getting displaced from my teaching job. Taking a legit break from working.
7. Stay at home mom.
8. Getting hired back at my old job.
9. Making a marriage interesting when all the newlywed fizzle dies down.
10. Saving up for a family car. I refuse to make monthly payments on a car.
11. Sacrificing my body for a 6 month old. My body won't ever be the same, and neither will my sleep pattern.
12. Not knowing if there's a paycheck next month coming in.
13. What's a beneficiary?
14. Setting up a savings account for Maddy.
15. Praying for a new house to buy and selling this townhouse.
16. Losing 20 pounds.
17. Working on loosing 40 more pounds by my next birthday.
18. Zero balance on credit cards.
19. Paying off student loans.
20. Getting a fancy-schmancy phone. Not the iPhone or the Crackleberry, but the competitor one.
21. Slowly changing my maiden name to my married name on all official documents.
22. Switching from Shiseido skin care to drugstore brand Aveeno.
23. Got rid of my size 6 shoe collection.
24. Waiting for my engagement ring and wedding band to fit my ring finger again.
25. Got rid of my old wardrobe of petite sized clothing.
26. Getting rid of my CD and DVD collection, if I can even call it a collection.
27. Letting go of trying to control every single thing that worries me.
29. Donating my book collection.
30. Updating my resume and teaching portfolio.
31. Updating and deleting the contact list stored in my cell phone's memory bank.
32. Deleting old saved emails.

This is the list of stuff I came up with. It might sound pretty uneventful, but to me it feels like I accomplished a lot on my mental to-do list. It feels so good!

Miscommunication

We're living in the time of cell phones, emails, text messages, web chatting, social networking websites and blogs. Why is it that even with all these tools, I feel bothered that there is a disconnect between me and others when it comes to communicating?
